   Proposal Description:
   Metabolic syndrome has been associated with onset of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). However, findings on the association of metabolic syndrome and progression to AD are not conclusive.  Specifically, little is known about the role of metabolic syndrome on the progression of healthy subjects to MCI or AD, or MCI subjects to AD over time.  In this proposed project, we will determine if metabolic syndrome presents a higher risk of decline in cognitive abilities of subjects with aging in a longitudinal cohort using hierarchical linear models.
